Rust

Hi,
Ive read (and noticed) that rust is all bad, but what are the specifics around it? It appears to lower various(random?) stats if I get it and I can remove the rust using the armorers polish but is that the best way to deal with it?
If I use oil on my eq does this prevent me getting rust today, and tomorrow? and then I have to reapply? Is this the same as the (expensive for me) minor blessing?

Best bet will be to use snake or fish oils. Each oil is one more day that it won't rust. And yes, you do have to reapply before the fish oils runs out to keep your weapons from rusting.
