A New Debate

Postby jadewik » August 8th, 2007, 5:17 pm

Okay... so we had that whole Ninjas vs. Pirates debate a couple months ago... and even though the majority of people like Ninjas better, I STILL think pirates could knock their socks off... but I consent that the popular ninja majority was higher than the pirate lovers in this clan....

ON that note... I propose a new debate of which is better-- this time, of the occult variety.

Which is better: Vampires or Werewolves? Why?

Werewolves. They have more control over their bloodthirst.

Werewolves are cooler because in books and stuff they tend to be a bit more diverse; at least from what I've seen.

Actually, I think vampires are far more diverse. Vampire: The Masquerade essentially saw to that.

Werewolves. Vampires are all emo-y, and they have a multitude of major weaknesses (crosses, garlic, holy water, wooden stakes, THE FREAKING SUN, etc.). Werewolves are usually interesting, conflicted characters, and they are very powerful with few major weaknesses (silver bullets). Vampires also need to have blood to live, whereas werewolves are basically like any other mammal. Vampires usually don't have many enhanced abilities (other than turning into bats and being sexy-ish), while werewolves are at the peak of physical ability, have razor-sharp senses and are dangerous. And since werewolves are only weak like humans during the day (and some nights, depending on the kind of werewolf, what mythology you're going by, etc.) they can just stand in the sun to avoid their vampire enemies.

So, yeah. Werewolves win.

In my honest opinion, I would have to go with Vampires.

Given the different sources of Vampires (V:tM, for example), they are very diverse. However, no matter your source, these weaknesses are always encountered.

1. Weakness to sunlight
2. Thirst for blood
3. Weakness to fire

The whole entire weakness to religious objects, stakes, and garlic are all just based off of your sources. Anne Rice, for example, made it so that any of those three that were listed above will kill a vampire for good; nothing else harms them.

Given Vamipre: The Masquerade, vamps have a HUGE variety of powers, spells, bloodmagics, and abilities that augument their already deadly skills and make them formidable in combat. Given some abilities, they can even pass off as being mortal humans.

As for the whole turning into bats and being uber-attractive...well, thats just ancient mythology, along with the crosses, holy water, garlic, and wooden stakes as being weaknesses.

All in all, though, both races have their advantages and disadvantages. It just depends on what sources you use, how you apply them to your character, and whether or not you're a good RP'er.

I'd say a cross between the two would be best :D Get the best of both worlds.. the looks, the powers, and none of the weaknesses!

or, if really unlucky, all the weaknesses and none of the looks and powers :(

well actually if you do cross them you still have some of the same weaknesses
Silver being one of em

also from what i go by on vampires, the only weaknesses they have are Silver, Sunlight, deadmans Blood (its poison to them course the deadman has to have been dead for some time not just newly killed otherwise when they kill to drink would be kinda redundent), Fire
also a steak through the heart would kill anyone :-p

either way i would say WareWolves, since you can be part of both worlds daylight and night time. you can hunt for your prey during the day then at night you finish em off with yer powers

I think you are all missing the point. The question is, who is more of a badass:

Blade or Lupin.

If Blade tried attacking Lupin, Lupin would have Blade crying to his mother with the flick of wrist. BUT if Lupin somehow didn't have his wand, Blade would PWN Lupin in so many ways that even Harry would disown him.

I prefer vampires usually because they tend to be sexier, and that's the most important ability there is. However a really sexy werewolf chick would be cool during the day, and there are no sexy vampires during the day. but then, there are no sexy werewolves during a full moon. yeah, I'll stick with vampires, even though way too many people play them in rps.
