A New Debate

Have a seat, have a drink, walk among friends, all of this can be done in the Golden Griffon, Titan's official tavern.

Blade is half vampire, so that doesn't count.

Also... hehe at Joe.

I personally like the positives to each... but I loathe traditional lore for both.

I think that the only weakness both should share is FIRE. I also think sunlight should be a weakness for vampires and silver for werewolves.

I don't like traditional werewolf lore... I think that a werewolf is completely cognitive whether a wolf or a (wo)man. I also hate the whole wolf-man type appearance. I think that werewolves are larger-sized wolves (think dire wolf) when they're in their wolf form. I also think werewolves should be able to change whether the moon is full or not... though, perhaps the full moon is a time when they MUST change and there is no choice. I'm torn on the changing back part.... but, for the sake of creating a weakness, I'd consider not allowing werewolves to change back to human form once they're wolves after dark.

As for vampires, I hate their lore too. I think sunlight would be more of an irritation... mimicing FIRE. So it could kill them if they're outside for too long. Silver, I wouldn't consider a weakness for vampires. Nor would I consider crosses. As for the blood drinking... I like to think that human blood is better for vampires since their prey relies less on instinct and more on some sort of thought process... similar to the vampire's own thought process. Animals would make a good "vegetarian" substitute... but I don't think it would supply as much nourishment for the drinker. As for the vampire "super powers"... I'm not so keen on those. They might be persuasive because of their intelligence and uncanny good looks (which I agree with Joe here on their sex appeal)... but I don't think they can control minds... unless, perhaps they were a mage or magic user of sorts when they were alive. Turning into smoke? I disagree with this too... I think they just move very fast. Controlling animals? Maybe if they trained them. Honestly, I think people give vampires more credit than they're due.

Truth be told, I like BOTH equally. Though, if I had to choose between the two for what I'd have to resign myself to... I'd hands down pick werewolf over vampire. I love their feral nature... and I would hate to "live" forever in a sort of half-life. *gag*

So, for me, it's not how much ass I'd kick... it's more a matter of preference... and I prefer werewolves. =)

Thank you all! First I would like to thank my mentor, who without, i would have never won the DotM award. So thank you Curulan for showing me the in and outs of dorkdom!

Next, James, Lupin is also a wizard. So half-vampire cancels out with a wizard =P

Joe: You can have a sexy vampire during the day... just has to be out of direct sunlight! (think: the bedroom...)

Carn, for Vampire lore, I kinda like the approach they took in Interview with a Vampire. Crosses and other holy items are completely useless (can't recall about silver...) and the only true way to kill a vampire is to expose them to direct sunlight. Fire *can* kill them, but it is though. Wolfman idea, i also don't like. A man with fur, teeth and claws? PFFFFFT If there would be a human resemblance, I would say that they can walk on their hind legs equally as well as on all four and have opposable thumbs similar to a human's hand (think: gorillas) .

I *think* i would prefer to be a vampire tho... and i don't really have any reasons other than their lifestyle seems to attract me more (that is, of the two)

Werewolf transformation time varies a lot from lore to lore. Some can transform at will, others transform only when directly exposed to light from a full moon, some with just moonlight, and others when it's dark. And there are different hybrids of those legends, as well. Some are always wolflike, with varying levels of control. The only constant with a werewolf is that they're humans who become wolflike at some point.

Vampire lore also varies a lot, especially with their abilities. Some are sexy, some are repulsive, some can fly and transform and use magic and others can't. They all drink blood, and are all weak to sunlight, which are really the only two constants.

ive been watching a weird anime
called Karin, its a bout a teen age vampire girl..... yep
anyway instead of drinking blood she produces... though its placed in modern times she is born a vampire and has a family who of course are vampires

their taste in blood differs and if they drink their favorite type of blood, the person who they suck or in karin's place supplies, mood changes

Karins pallet favorite blood is misfortune, if she bites the person who was depressed, low in spirits becomes extremely cheerful aswell as determined

strange anime i know..... but it played out most pf the lore of a vamp. like a vampire not liking running water, holy objects or silver

however it did do something with garlic.... the smell of it was powerful for their enhanced sense of smell

Chesh: No it doesn't :P Any human can be a vampire or a werewolf, wizard or not. Blade, however, is half-human, half-vampire and is not full blooded and therefore does not count as a normal vampire, whereas Lupin has the werewolf affliction. I don't understand why you're confusing race and affliction with profession >.>

Lupin, I have to admit... is a pansy. Greyback was by far a better werewolf... he at least accepted what he was. Then again, I wasn't too keen on JKR's version of werewolves to begin with, so... *shrug*

Lupin is the coolest pansy there ever was, though, we can give him that.
