Anyone Use WACOM?

Postby jadewik » January 7th, 2008, 2:18 pm

I'm looking at using my Christmas bonus to buy a Wacom tablet... to assist in drawing-esque-type-things. (I've wanted one for about 6 years now).

I'm looking into the "Wacom Bamboo Fun" tablet... but I can't decide between the small or the medium (is it worth the fundage for the x-tra big draw-ring surface?)... that and I want to know if anyone else uses a Wacom tablet for "stuff".

Anyone have any suggestions? Comments?

I recommend going to an art forum somewhere and asking for which one to get. I haven't used one personally, but every person I know that uses one says great things about them.

Perhaps a Deviant Art forum?

Are you running away from me while you're there or something? :P

Hoo, a fun twist of interpretation.

I should see if any of my arty friends have one. I'll letcha know if they do.

the bigger the better. small sizes are a pain to use.

On an "artsy" forum, I heard that Wacom is the way to go...

Someone suggested the Intuos, which would be great-- but that's more than I want to spend on a toy. Others suggested the Graphire... but that's being replaced by the Bamboo (which has more features).

So it looks like I'm going to get a Bamboo Fun...

Bigger is better? In some cases, yes. I certainly have the desk space for it... I've heard mixed things on size... but I s'pose bigger IS better.... so I guess size does matter? =)

So... if I go with the Bamboo Fun Medium... all I have to decide now is colour.

Get your FAVORITE color. Or your LEAST FAVORITE color.

Either one should work fine. If you pick your favorite, it'll match with everything you have and if you pick your least favorite you can broaden your horizons.

well, the bamboo is pretty small, even the medium size. i haven't used it personally, but if it's mainly just to for a toy, it should be ok.
