Common name:

Milton

Full Title:

Healer Milton Mannors

Race:

Human

Magical Affinity:

Water

Character Overview:

Milton is a watcher. He gives people space, but he will never disregard even the most minute detail. Many times, people feel violated simply from his deep, empty gaze. He usually expresses things in ways he should rather than as he wants. Hopelessly pessimistic, he simply thinks that nothing matters unless it is some concern of the few people he respects.

At the same time he is commonly thought of as creepy, and he is not sure if it could be because of his eyes or his persona. He can be rather formal: another trait that doesn’t seam to fit. Once in a while Milton acts kindly or cruelly with no expression of kindness or anger, something that confuses people even more. Whether or not he has any real motive is a mystery. He may not be hiding secrets, but there is always something people can’t understand or think is hidden.

Ability:

Herbalism – Milton knows how to make many concoctions to help with a few stomach problems and more. As someone who likes to get a few coins whenever possible he tries to keep a variety of these on hand to sell to the needy. There are even a few poisons or anti-alcohol potions he makes sure to have on hand.

His healing abilities are varied. When Milton was starting out as a town healer he had weak magical abilities and had to learn to do it like any non-gifted person. He learned a lot about anatomy and what help he could give with scissors and string. Healing takes more out of the one needing help than the healer, and so Milton can help many.

Call Flesh – When he became better at the magical sides of healing, and could do more than bruises like before, he learned to force flesh to multiply faster. This spell has become his most developed skill due to his service on the battle field and the demand in his town. It takes a great deal of energy from the one injured, as much as it would for the wound to heal on its own, only all at once. Larger wounds require more focus to keep him from growing flesh in the wrong places. Scar tissue is a common side affect. Healed muscles are commonly tense at first. Sometimes a wound is too big for the people to heal with their own strength, and that is where his next ability comes in. Range; twenty feet.

Gift Energy – Milton forces strength from his body into the flesh around the wound. Though he couldn’t literally give someone his strength, his energy could be used as he calls their flesh and thus save the energy of the one wounded. Even then, just as it takes as much energy as it would to heal naturally; it can take just as much pain as well. Range; five feet.

Take Pain – When it is too much for someone to be healed, Milton can call their pain into himself. It makes it harder for him to concentrate, but he can still do his job. This often comes in handy when there is a large wound and the person needs to be still to keep Milton from slipping. Range; five feet.

Physiolog: Milton is around twenty-four years old, standing wide with a bit of extra weight. His light brown hair is several inches long, but he keeps most of it combed back. Some always curls around the sides of his forehead, and this tends to add to his simple empty smile. This grin rarely reaches his eyes, perhaps because he does not have the kindness or maybe even joy needed for it.

Often he wears just his brown robes, which he keeps as clean as he can. There is a five by five inch patch of cloth sewn on the outside. This is used when he works to rub small bits of blood off of his hands, and usually has a stain or ten before it is replaced. Even if he likes to show off his body at times by leaving the top of his robes open to show some of his hairy chest, he'll always be most formal.

Inside of his robes, one could find needles stuck in the cloth, ground herbs in pockets, and even a single knife. They come in handy if someone wants to buy medical aid, or he has to defend himself. But who would attack such a proud and helpful healer?

History:

Milton used to be a simple healer of Pravize, and would charge only a single silver for any wound no matter how horrible. He even had rooms that people could rent if they were too ill to travel out in his small home. If they couldn't pay, he never felt wrong to turn them down. Word of his skills soon spread to the Guarde's army and he was drafted into their cause to fight off the people of Vauljer in a war.

With time Milton was fed up with not knowing the cause, other than cryptic bits he was passed. The lack of respect he had for their government twisted into an even greater mistrust, and with it scorn.

He worked for three months, healing people brought to him almost constantly and even doing so on the battle field a few times. Not wanting to stay, he soon slipped out of the land with the help of a friend of a friend, who later became someone he would greatly respect, and came to Titan in order to get away from the war.

Now he spends his time enjoying himself, unless his savior needs a favor. He rarely questions what people ask of him, and when he does he ignores his own notes. But Guarde did teach him one thing; watch for counter dictions.

Mannerisms:

Even though he tends to stay out of other people's things, Milton is always peeking into what it is people could be after. He tries to give them space, but his attempts to learn from a distance may end up causing more trouble than openly asking questions. Besides, he doesn't think his questions matter enough to put into the open.

Milton likes to drink, and when he does he will no longer be the formal man he tries to be. One would see the side he tends to hide; and the reason his smile is usually like a drunk man's leer. At times it would seam as if he has a roughed side suppressed. He’ll speak his mind and will sometimes slip saying things he wouldn’t have otherwise. His drinking has made him bad with money, but while not drunk he is very different.

Milton doubts himself more than anything. What-ifs randomly pop up as he wonders the values of himself. He constantly asks questions, whether of the people he’s watching or of the reasons for his actions. When these questions get close to himself he pushes them away as pointless, if not for other reasons.

As someone who creeps people out, many people have tried to understand Milton or return his watching eye. None have yet to get a good understanding of his persona. Even he doesn’t know himself well, no matter how much he values the understanding of others. No matter how thoughtful he is of the people around them, as far as their comfort goes, he doesn’t seam like a caring person. Some things he does are wise, while others are just careless. An example of this would be not taking a side mentally in a war, even when he so easily let them recruit him.

He is both delicate as he can act somewhat feminine while at the same time his roughish side is obviously there, even if suppressed. In attempt to be practical he can deem things useless, including his own actions. However Milton does have something that may be considered a sense of honor as he pays the debts given.

Even though he charges for most healings, he can be sentimental at other times.

Milton is nothing more than a confusing person whose actions are encouraged to contradict his thoughts.

Properties of Choice:

Milton’s simple dagger has no special values. It is kept sharp incase he needs to cut fine tissues. Having grown in a land of war, he knows how to use it on the streets as needed. He is not the most skilled at all and tends to avoid fights.

Sociology:

Milton may keep to himself, but he does tend to make his presence known when he wants. If someone was to approach him, he would treat them formally while trying to understand why it is they spoke to him in the first place silently. But that’s only if they were to come to him.

Milton is almost never the person to approach someone else. He would rather watch them and learn things that way, even if it’s not directly about the person. Keeping track of people is just something he does.

Currently Milton considers himself in debt to Blythe, a vampire who helped him out of his old lands. In return the small vampire only wanted help with a woman. Milton will return favors as asked from this lad, but at the same time it is something to do. Interest and excitement may be his main reasons behind this honor.
