Brief History: Darkan has a long and dark history, born an Elvish noble, to a long line of Elvish Wizards, he was expected to excel in the Magical Arts. This he did. What was not expected was that he would choose the route of the Black Robes. While still in his mother’s womb, Darkan began receiving visits from a shadowy figure. The visitor promised power and fame, in exchange for Darkan sometimes doing what was asked of him. When he took the Tests to become a Mage, and returned home wearing the White Robes, he was celebrated, honored and revered. He rose quickly, gaining the position of Head of the White Robes. He meets a young Kender by the name of Tanglehood. He is a good fellow, and they strike a bargain. Darkan will help Tang travel, if he goes and gets the items. So Tang goes on an adventure, and returns with a device for traveling, and Phish Euol Kuk De’nizzre’, the Red Gem Staff of Lightning. But it was not enough, for Darkan or the shadowy figure. Darkan turns to the Black Robes, embracing his evil inner demon. Now as Head of the Black Robes, Darkan’s powers grow even faster, and he believes himself invincible. He challenges his Queen, the Goddess Takhisis. But, the shadowy figure, which always lent him power at times of need, fled, and no help was received. Darkan nearly died. And the other members of his Order where displeased, he was scorned, and driven out of the Tower. He fled, to a new land, with new Magic to learn. After ruling there for many long years, Darkan grew bored. He finds a new land, with new challenges. Gwaihir Windlord, and Xaraxas, Lord of the Dragons have an uneasy truce. He fosters the truce, and then exploits them. Convincing the Dragons to attack Shiara. War, death, destruction, but not for Gwaihir. He must live, so Darkan saves him, and helps him escape. Now the Dragons are left, left to rule, or so they think. Darkan rules the rulers. But, the Dragons are clever, and figure it out. Turning on Darkan, they attack. He is too powerful, and they all fall. Now he is left alone. With nothing to occupy his time. Dreams of returning to Ansalon, and reclaiming that which was wrongfully taken haunted him. He once again challenges Queen Takhisis. And this time, his power does not fail, he no longer needs the shadowy figure, he is winning. But Paladine, the God of Good, sees the terrible danger the land of Krynn would face if Darkan became a God. So he interferes, and helps Takhisis. Darkan is once again defeated. Broken, near death, he hides. While recovering, the figure returns, with an new offer, Darkan isn’t pleased, he turns on the figure, and defeats him, imprisoning it in a tomb of darkness. And Darkan, for the first time in his long life, walks away free.
