The void, unlike all other variations of magic on the Magic Wheel, has no need for mana. The void is a type of "anti-magic" and reacts in such a way with mana based spells that a 'dispel magic' would react. However, unlike a junior mage trying to cast dispel magic against a Legendary Fire Wizard's 'fire wall' only to net disappointment; a void being, or magic made of void material, will always cancel out a mana based spell. The same effect is also seen by a void magician trying to cast spells against any kind of mana magic caster.

The void plane, as the fire plane is simply levels up levels of fire and heat and magma, is layer upon layer of the dark and slimy void material. It is an odorless sludge like material that can be formed and changed by thought of those who inhabit the void. Generally all beings in the void plane open their minds to create a hive-like sea of ever changing void life. As such, mapping the void is nearly impossible, and those mana casters who manage the foray into the plane and live to return, often are at odds with each other as to what they have seen.

Seeing that the magics of the void and the magics of the various mana realms are ineffective, very little travel between the void plane and others exists, when it is even possible. Generally adventurers who find themselves with a lacking of magical sense trip to the opposite realms for fame and glory, as these non-magical members of society have no fear of their magics being ineffective.
