Many of you already know that I'm a Halloween addict-- it probably has a lot to do with my interest in the occult. This addiction is why I've not been spending a whole lot of time here lately. My free time is spent working on one project or another. Seeing as I'm not around... I thought I'd at least post photos and stories of what I've been up to this year.... and what my plans are.
This year's theme is a combination of Jekyll/Hyde and MadScience... and it might develop into a little bit of a sanitarium too since we've JUST (as in this weekend) been asked to help put together a Spooky House for church. (Spooky House is what I call a haunted house.)
Anyway, here are some projects I've been working on.
TOETAGS:
I bought the large tags for cheap at Office Depot. Then I touched up this free toe tag (PDF file found here) in Photoshop, printed out some labels on address label paper (size Avery 5163), stuck 'em on, and viola! Perfect Toe-Tags.
ID BADGES:
Still not entirely done-- I wanted to tweak the badges a little, reduce their size and make round corners.... move things around.
Here's a screenshot with a clipart photo followed by a photograph of the first mock-up badge.
(Yes, that's me in the photo of the badge in the holder.)
PVC GURNEY:
The idea behind the gurney is to have a dummy cadaver/corpse laying on it and we'll pull candy (or an occasional body part) out of his chest cavity. I have an "infected fun blood" IV-Bag and some fake blood to hook up to the cadaver/corpse.
Gurney frame being painted:
Metal clip-board-holder-thing to hold the patient charts-- we'll zip-tie it on there as soon as I get the sheets and cadaver figured out.
Starting to get the sheets on.. you can kinda see the IV bag:

CADAVER HEAD:
So... a good corpse has to have a good face... but I couldn't find a good male-wig-head. So, I improvised. Bought a female head and modified it with Model Magic. I'll eventually tea-stain some papertowels and glue them onto it (like Martha Stewart's "Head Waiter" prop... which is the look I'm going for). Bear in mind, this is the first time I've actually sculpted anything... and also take into account Model Magic's quick-drying feature-- which is why I couldn't blend things in as nicely as I did for the right cheek.

INTESTINES:
Every good cadaver with a torso wound needs some large intestines! These are made out of stuffing and childs' sized nylons.... and, of course, a lot of hand sewing. Bleh!
... and completely un-related...
MY CUPBOARD CEMETERY:
I've worked really hard to set up a cemetery scene in the kitchen... and, just this weekend, I finished painting my dollar store headstones with glow-in-the-dark paint so they sparkle and shine in blacklight... only... it only works really well close to the black light, so I might have to get more. Muahaha!
There are photos with the lights on and with the lights off...
