'Tis the season to be out of reading material.
I work in a bookstore, so I get fairly decent deals off of books, and as a result, I read more than a little. For classes, I, of course, have to, but I mean for pleasure.
And I'm looking for suggestions. Good books are my aim, but some people thought Twilight was good, so I'll give you some pointers so that you don't make such grave mistakes.
I mostly like fantasy, science fiction, and historical fiction. Essentially, adventure books. However, my favourite books tend to be things like Wicked (or rather, the sequel), Life of Pi, Watership Down and, best book of all time, Fantastic Mr. Fox (so awesome).
Any suggestions, preferably along the whole "epic fantasy/historical fiction" route?
An example of books I enjoyed are...
Shogun for historical fiction.
The Malazan Book of the Fallen by Stephen Erikson
The Dresen Files by Jim Butcher
The First Law by Joe Abercrombie
The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss
Any Terry Pratchett book...
Ender's Game
As you can see, it's kinda heavily leaning towards epic fantasy series, so if you've got a good one, sing it out. Obviously, I've read more than this, but reccomend away. I'll tell you what I have an haven't read, and tell you my various and varying opinions on them.
I used to have a whole bunch of titles, I think. That probably makes me better than you. Maybe.
